Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Le Bèrne
Podere Le Bèrne is a farm which occupies about 21 hectares, 10 hectares of which are covered by vineyards.
It was founded at the end of the 1960s at the end of the typical Italian share-cropping system, by the Natalini family. During the years, they have linked the ancient artisan systems of production with modern techniques.
Constant attention, passion, competence and care for the cultivation, vinification and ageing are all aspects which characterize Podere Le Bèrne wines, which have been sold by the litre for years and now finally have been bottled and labelled.
The production area is in Cervognano, the heart of the terroir in which Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is produced. The 4 hectares of vineyards are situated in a slightly hilly area with excellent exposure to the sun. The name Le Bèrne, in fact, derives from a late Etruscan or Latin term (Verna or Verena) meaning “hillock”. Its altitude of 350 metres above sea-level assures a perfect microclimate for wine production.
Besides wine, the farm Le Bèrne also produces a small quantity of extra virgin olive oil, which has an intense colour and a delicate flavour.
